The Joker was able to turn Dent from pure good to evil all through his manipulation and evil acts. On the other side of the reaction to the Joker’s evil is shown in the lifeboat scene. This is on the other end of the spectrum when being compared to the way Harvey handled the evil of the Joker because the people in the boats were able to stay good and pure, even the convicts that were probably expected to be the ones to blow up the opposing boat. The Joker wanted the civilians to blow up the convict boat because it would show the selfishness of the good people proving that they aren’t that good at all and in the end the whole experiment failed showing that both the convicts and civilians showed goodness and thought of the other people in the other boat, putting other people’s lives before theirs. In the middle of subjecting to evil or remaining good is where we find the protagonist of the movie, Batman. An example of Batman showing a darker side is during the scene where Batman is interrogating the Joker. Batman tries to get information out of the Joker in order to save Harvey and Rachel and the Joker attacks his weakness which is his insecurities and one rule of not being able to kill. Through this manipulation, where the Joker was telling Batman that he isn’t like the policemen and that they are just using him and the Joker and him are very similar because they are outcasts, the Batman turns violent and shoves the Joker up against a wall. His composure is broken. The Joker got inside his head and he cracked. An example how the Batman remains good is how he has so many chances to kill the Joker and get rid of his problem so he can retire from the Batman position but he could not come to do this because it would be against his rule. Killing someone would shatter his goodness. Also the Batman does all he can to save civilians lives, while risking his own life. He cares about the greater good of Gotham city. He is called the Dark Knight because of this struggle between good and evil. Alfred, the butler, had this one line that really stuck out relating to the Joker. It was, â€Å"Some men aren’t interested in anything logical, like money. They can’t be bullied or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn down. † This mirrors the fact the Joker only does these evil things to watch others tumble and fall into the traps of evil and slowly take the world down. Philosophy of Classroom Management Essay My philosophy on classroom management begins with learning and being familiar with the various rolls that a teacher plays on an everyday basis. I didn’t know until taking this course that a teacher assumes so many rolls during the day. He or she takes on rolls such as: a parent, a social worker, an advisor, a counselor, and a judge. During my classroom observations and readings, I have learned that I will run into different types of students. There will be the bully, leader, follower, instigator, and the escape goat who in other words is the victim. In order to find out who and what is what, the students would have to be in groups to pin point who is playing what roll. There will also be times when I will run into parents of my students. Since reading our text my eyes have really been open on how and what to say to a parent. The first thing I would say as a teacher when I see something that is unusual about a student, I would tell the parent that I concurred with his or her child. Then I would proceed to tell the facts that I gathered to let him or her know that I feel something negative has happened. I feel that as the teacher I should know what is going on in every part of my classroom at all times. To help with my classroom surveillance, I will use witnesses momentum, smoothness, group alerting, accountability, overlapping and satiation. All of these will contribute to my teaching profession. According to Dreikur and the Canters, there are five types of teachers (Charles, 2008). Dreikur states that I could be an autocratic, democratic, or a permissive teacher. The autocratic teacher makes his or her own decisions whereas the democratic teacher is an opinionated educator. Finally, there is the permissive teacher who is the unpredictable teacher. The Canters defined three types of teachers. The hostitle teacher views the students as adversaries. The non-assertive teacher takes a passing approach to students, and last but not least the assertive teacher clearly, confidently, and consistently, expresses class expeditions to students. After reading C.M. Charles book â€Å"Building Classroom Discipline†, I learned what a teacher should say and do to and for his or her students. According to Dreikur, teachers should always speak in positive terms. Teachers should encourage students to strive for improvement, not perfection. Emphasis should be placed on students’ strengths while minimizing their weaknesses and teachers should help students learn from mistakes. Independence should be greatly encouraged along with the assumption of responsibility. I would set to accomplish the latter task by letting my students know that I have faith in them and I would show pride in their work. I would be very optimistic and enthusiastic and use encouraging remarks such as â€Å"You have improved,† and â€Å"Can I help you† (Charles, 2008). There are five types of behaviors that I know will occur in my class. The first behavior is aggression. Aggression is physical and verbal attack on the teacher, students or property. Secondly is immorality which are acts contrary to accepted morality such as cheating, lying, and stealing. Defiance of authority is the third behavior that will possibly occur in my classroom. Defiance of authority is when students refuse to do what is requested. Finally, class disruption is talking loudly, walking about the room, clowning, tossing things, and goofing off. Goofing off can be attributed to fooling around, out of seat, not doing assigned tasks and daydreaming. Fredric Jones’ analysis of the numerous classroom observations uncovered five clusters of teacher skills that keep students productively at work and thus preventing misbehavior. Those clusters deal with classroom structure to discourage behavior; getting through body language; using say, see, and do teaching to maximize students’ attention and involvement; responsibility training through incentive system, and providing efficient help to individual students (Charles, 2008). Coetzee presents two rapes– the rape of Lucy by three unidentified men and David’s rape of Melanie, his college student. These rapes are both unresolved. Coetzee writes about these two rapes to demonstrate the ways in which men dominate and control women in the South African society. It is deeply saddening that the rapes that occurred in the book are both left unresolved. Although, they both end in different ways, the case of Melanie who was victimized by David Lurie was not exactly a vicious or violent rape. It seems as though Melanie may have felt that she should agree with the matter at hand or else she would have to face consequences for disobeying David’s request. It almost feels as though Melanie is providing her consent for such actions. Lucy’s rape is the complete opposite; she is raped by a gang in her own home and has to suffer the embarrassment of her father David knowing all the horrible details. In both cases, the men got away with the rapes because they took place in a post-apartheid South African society. A post-apartheid South African society is a rigid former policy consisting of segregation as well as economic and political oppression towards the nonwhite population. The levels of culture discussed earlier are affected not only by corporate ideologies but also by the social forces that shaped that particular country and its people. Schein pointed out the different components of an organisational culture. But he was simply referring to a culture that is contained within a firm. Schein’s framework was limited to the ideology and vision established by the founder of the firm or an influential core leader of the said organisation. This culture is related to the sociological aspect of the business environment and this transcends the boundaries of the firm.
